The City of Taylor and its curbside waste collection contractor, GFL (Green For Life Environmental), take recycling very seriously. Therefore, it is important to send along occasional reminders about important guidelines that improve our recycling efforts.
We’d like to remind residents using the weekly recycling service in Taylor of the following curbside recycling guidelines. GFL’s service OKs the following items for recycling:
(Please note any restrictions to the above materials noted on the “Curbside Recycling Guidelines downloadable PDF)
GLF recycling says “yes” to clean pizza boxes, clean garden plastics, flattened cardboard boxes, emptied and rinsed containers.
It says “no” to plastic bags, foam containers, wire hangers, window panes, mirrors, ceramics and Pyrex dishware, organic material and food waste, electronic waste (batteries, etc,), paint, pesticides, oil and cleaners, waxed cardboard, needles or syringes and hazardous waste.

In addition, the Department of Public Works would like to remind residents to avoid mixing non-compost materials with any to-be-disposed compost. Concrete, stones, etc. can do great damage to the City’s compost equipment. Please do not mix anything with compost pickups.
