The Taylor Goodfellows, a group that disbanded several year ago, are making a comeback. The first step in their new campaign will be a part of a Rotary Club of Taylor fund-raiser at Texas Roadhouse between 3:45-10 p.m. on Thursday, August 31. During that time frame, 10 percent of the food purchases will be donated to the Rotary if you present the attached flyer. Simultaneously, the new Goodfellows' group will be holding a bake sale to raise its own funds.
Texas Roadhouse is located at 14660 Pardee Road near Southland Center.
The Taylor Goodfellows had started in the early 1960s before disbanding due to a lack of membership in 2014. The organization's mission is to grant a happy holiday season to families in need. The last time the Goodfellows existed in Taylor, they raised about $15,000 to purchase food for deserving families and toys for their children. About 200 Taylor families were served annually.
Anyone interested in helping the bake sale or the Taylor Goodfellows should contact Sara El-Rifaal (313) 461-2919.
