City, VA to hold town hall meeting for veterans

Veterans and their families are invited to a free Veterans Town Hall Meeting from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 17. The event will be held at City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road.

The initial portion of the program will involve discussing what benefits are available to veterans and their families. The town hall meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. and there will be a "Vietnam Pinning Ceremony" at 12:30, reserved for any veteran who served during that era.

On hand will be representatives from the Detroit VA Medical Center on the topics of medical vesting exams, on the spot registration, vocational rehabilitation, Wayne County veterans affairs, the Great Lakes National Cemetery, veterans benefits, community resources, community colleges and the local VFW.

Refreshments will be available.
